With nearly 14 million people unemployed and another 11 million underemployed and looking for full-time jobs, creating jobs is America’s most urgent need. At the same time, our infrastructure is crumbling. Our classrooms and clinics are overcrowded. Our education, transportation, and energy systems are in serious need of upgrades.
So why not create jobs to boost our economy in the short term and improve our infrastructure, efficiency, and global competitiveness in the long run?
Unfortunately, too many members of Congress seem to be missing the big picture. They would have us believe our nation can’t afford to invest in job creation and infrastructure improvements. Don’t they get it? We’ll never grow our economy and reduce the deficit until we put America back to work.
