Let's Get Sam Cataldo Out Of Concord-Vote For Rich Leonard On Nov 4

On Tuesday November 4th Vote Maggie Hassan For Governor

“The state’s jobless numbers are down since she took office, and the real estate market is up. At least as importantly, tens of thousands of Granite Staters who lacked health insurance — and therefore access to care — now have it, thanks to Hassan’s support of the Affordable Care Act and the bargain she struck with Senate Republicans to expand care to those qualifying for Medicaid. [...] Moreover, she’s displayed an ability to work with a divided Legislature, compromising with GOP Senate leaders on several key issues, including Medicaid expansion, the deal that set aside the hospitals’ lawsuit and arriving at a compromise budget.”

All The Wealth The Middle Class Accumulated After 1940 Is Gone

"Many middle class families own homes and have pensions, but too many of these families also have much higher mortgages to repay and much higher consumer credit and student loans to service than before." Economists Emmanuel Saez of the University of California, Berkeley, and Gabriel Zucman of the London School of Economics

Farmington Dems Welcomes Voters With Visibilties

On weekends from not through Election Day, the Farmington Dems will be out and about in various locations in Farmington, giving visibility to our candidates and to our Committee.

Farmington has two seats in the NH House of Representatives.  We are supporting our incumbent representative, the Honorable Rachel Burke, and a candidate in the Farmington scene, Martin Laferte.  We ask that you support both Farmington Democrat candidates, if you are eligible to vote in Farmington.

We are also in great support of Rich Leonard for State Sentate, NH Senate District #6.  We need a solid voices in our House and Senate who support working families.    We are also supportive of our current Executive Councilor, Colin VanOstern, who is also seeking re-election.  Finally, Our wonderful Congresswoman, Carol Shea-Porter, who has worked so hard over here terms in Congress to make sure that working folks get the government they need to protect their rights, and strengthen their position in society.  We also urge you to vote for Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Governor Maggie Hassan, both of whom will continue to be voices of reason, working for all of us.

We need to strengthen our public education system, our state infrastructure, and the way we look at healthcare in this state.  We have to replace the do-nothing, fear mongering legislators who seek to continue to keep working families from getting ahead, so they and their wealthy friends can accumulate more wealth.  They represent themselves and the special interests of big money.  They are bad for Farmington and bad for New Hampshire.

If you see us out holding signs, please feel free to stop by and join us, even if only for 5 minutes.  It's fun!  If you can't stay, please honk your horn when you see us, or give us a friendly wave.  We will certainly be waving at you!

The Farmington Democrats are a welcoming group representing progressive voices in Farmington.  We meet monthly, in collaboration with the Democratic Committees of Milton and New Durham as part of the larger Tri Town Democrats group, at the Emma Ramsey Center in Milton, at 7:00 PM on the second Thursday of the month.  Everyone is welcome.  Please join us.

Atul Gawande: We Have Medicalized Aging- That Experiment Is Failing Us

"Those folks stayed independent for far longer. They were admitted to the hospital less. And the other key result is that the hospital didn't have money to keep the geriatricians going, so they got rid of the department entirely. So it was this incredibly successful result in serving needs that people have, but we also demonstrated that we don't have any will or interest in sustaining it. The geriatricians have training in basic skills that we're not teaching other people—97 percent of medical students never learn about geriatric skills." Atul Gawande

60 Percent Of Americans Soon Will Live In States With Marriage Equality

"We are one country, with one Constitution, and the Court’s delay in affirming the freedom to marry nationwide prolongs the patchwork of state-to-state discrimination and the harms and indignity that the denial of marriage still inflicts on too many couples in too many places. As waves of freedom to marry litigation continue to surge, we will continue to press the urgency and make the case that America -- all of America -- is ready for the freedom to marry, and the Supreme Court should finish the job."" Freedom to Marry President Evan Wolfson.
