Martin “Marty” Laferte was born in Rochester and has lived most of his life in New Hampshire. He is a lifelong Democrat. After earning his engineering degree he worked for Earth Tech, an international engineering firm, managing projects all over the world . He took 10 years out from the private sector to serve as Public Works Director for Rochester. He returned to work for Earth Tech, retiring as a senior engineer. He moved to Farmington with his wife Billie in 1999. Since he and Billie moved to Farmington, Marty has served the community by participation on the Capital Improvements and Economic Development Committees, and Town Planning Board. His work on the Town Planning Board earned him the appointment as Farmington representative to the technical advisory committee for the Strafford County Metropolitan Planning Organization. He has also been elected and served as Vice President of the New Hampshire Jaycees. His focus in the state legislature will be on budget and finances. Marty would like to make sure that our state funds are well spent. His experience managing complex engineering projects all over the world will serve him very well in this task.
