Working Families And Community Activists Rally-May 5th, 2012 1:00 PM

Solidarity, Inspiration, and Celebration!

On May 5, 2012, working families and community activists from the Nashua area will hold the Solid as Granite Rally  to recognize the role that the right to organize has played in building New Hampshire’s strong middle class.

This will be a day for Solidarity, Inspiration, and Celebration!  From the workers in mills that line the Merrimack River to the people who plow our city streets and educate our children, New Hampshire has a long history of organized labor. For over 100 years we have fought... through our unions for working people and the middle class. Learn why we need to preserve New Hampshire’s labor heritage. Come and discover why we care so much about our community. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the National Association of Letter Carriers food drive. This is a family friendly event with children’s activities.

Speakers at the event will include State Employees Association of New Hampshire President Diana Lacey, New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Mark Mackenzie, The American Federation of Teachers of New Hampshire President Laura Hainey, Business Agent for the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 Ed Foley, and more. There will be informational booths from local labor unions for workers interested in learning about apprenticeship programs as well as face-painting and other family-friendly activities.
