Today, Opportunities To Support New Hampshire’s Middle Class

Unless you’ve been living off the grid, it’s been hard to miss the news that NH House Speaker Bill O’Brien’s protégé, House Majority Leader DJ Bettencourt, was publically exposed for lying about completing an internship program he needed to graduate from law school. It turns out that Rep. Bettencourt never showed up after his first day on the job – he just said he did.

Funny thing about that – because although Speaker O’Brien and his extreme Tea Party allies say they are all about creating good jobs and supporting New Hampshire middle class, they’ve never showed up. Instead, they’ve made passing so-called “Right to Work” laws and other anti-working family legislation their top priority – and they seem to have trouble separating truth from fiction when it comes to just how much it would hurt Granite State families and the local economy.

In that way, gubernatorial-wannabe Ovide Lamontagne has a lot in common with Speaker O’Brien in his commitment to attacking New Hampshire working families and destroying middle-class work opportunities. He won’t own up to the fact that it’s all about carrying out his radical political agenda - not about what we need to build a stronger economy or keep the Granite State open for business.

O’Brien and Ovide are standing shoulder-to-shoulder in their assault on collective bargaining and the essential services that support our families and communities – which means it’s time for us to stand up for New Hampshire’s middle class and say NO to deceptive claims that Granite State workers and business will benefit from passing “Right to Work” and gutting our rights at work.

Today, you have two important opportunities to support New Hampshire’s middle class:
If you live in the Hampton area, join us for a meeting and find out how you can take action to hold your state legislators accountable.

In Manchester, Protect NH Families and our allies are organizing a demonstration outside the Radisson Conference Center, where Ovide and O’Brien will be headlining a campaign fundraising event.

Event details are listed below. We hope you’ll join us!
